Interdisciplinary

With the research staff being a cocktail of computer scientists, designers and social scientists one of PalCom’s trademarks is interdisciplinary cooperation.

The 100 researchers involved in PalCom come from very different backgrounds: Computer scientists and specialized software engineers as well as interaction designers, ethnographers and industrial designers all take part in the project.

Developing a new approach to technology design that will make IT easier to grasp and use demands special knowledge from a broad area of research fields.

Cooperation on everyday-basis

To insure input from all project participants PalCom’s frequent workshops and meetings are planned carefully.

In both objectives and content they should enable researchers with many different backgrounds to participate actively.

Some activities, such as programming and software architecture planning, take place in smaller, more specialized forums but the more general concepts of PalCom are generated in interdisciplinary teams.
